Kunekune Bloodlines – Tonganui

Today, for my fifth Kunekune bloodlines post I will be writing about the Tonganui bloodline. We have one beautiful Tonganui boar named Giuseppe.

Giuseppe is a very sweet boy. He doesn’t like to fight much, he is very friendly towards the other pigs and he has an adorable pouty lip. He is going to be an amazing herd sire with good conformation.

There isn’t much recorded history about the Tonganui line but the basics. Kate Rigby was the original importer of the Tonganui line to the United States. Cyndi Berry started working on the Tonganui line and has been improving the line through breeding. The original imports had long snouts and legs. The line has been selectively bred to be rounder and shorter snouts.

Giuseppe’s Parents Warren (Sire) Kloe (Dam):

Giuseppe’s Grandfathers Andy and Upton

Giuseppe’s Grandmothers Gracie and Kali

Giuseppe’s Registration: 14466364_1135589676524285_1982142671_o.jpg

I asked some people on Facebook what their favorite trait and a picture of their favorite Tonganui boar. Below is a gallery of all the pictures they shared. Hover over the photos to get their name.
